Works to upgrade the traffic signals at the junction of Burnside Road, East Kilbride Road and Dukes Road will begin next week.

The improvement work gets underway on Monday 21 September and is expected to be completed by the end of October. It will see the new traffic signals installed as well as additional vehicle detection equipment that will improve the flow and increase traffic capacity at this busy intersection.

Increasing the volume of vehicles that can pass safely and efficiently through this area will decrease journey times for all traffic including buses.

There will be traffic management with associated lane closures and temporary traffic signals in place throughout the work.

Head of Roads and Transportation, Gordon Mackay, said: “Whilst we will make every effort to accommodate all road users, some disruption may be inevitable.

“We therefore request that everyone allows additional time for their journeys and plans their routes accordingly. We apologise for any inconvenience during these works to help improve traffic flow in the area.”
