General Manager of South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture, David Booth, said: “I am sure many children’s teams across South Lanarkshire will be delighted at this news.

“I know so many of them have been desperate for a return to training and playing the sport they love, but at the same time we have had to ensure the safety of all our customers and staff.

“Thankfully, as restrictions continue to ease, we believe we are now in a position to reopen the synthetic pitches for young people.

“Please take time to read all the guidelines above and ensure you follow all the protocols.”

Announcements about the return of adult football will follow at a later stage. Details of this will be shared as they become available.
