Temporary traffic lights will be in operation on Stewartfield Way this weekend to allow essential bridge repairs.

South Lanarkshire Council will be carrying out repair works to the expansion joint on both sides of the carriageway on Stewartfield Way Bridge on 23 and 24 November.

Work will begin at 9.30am on the morning of Saturday 23 November, a temporary lane closure controlled by traffic lights will be in place.

On Sunday 24 November the lane closure will switch to the other side of the carriageway to allow work to be completed in that lane.

The repair works to the expansion joint is expected to take approximately three hours to complete each day, however the temporary lane closure will be required to remain in place for a period once the work is finished to allow the new joint material to cure.

South Lanarkshire Council is aware of the inconvenience caused by these site operations, every effort will be made to minimise the duration of these essential emergency works.

It is planned that the road will be fully open overnight on Saturday until the second stage of the work gets underway on Sunday morning.
