Duncanrig’s high achievers join the A Team

Pupils at Duncanrig Secondary School, East Kilbride, celebrate their successful Higher exam results.

The plan has certainly come together for scores of pupils at Duncanrig Secondary School as they have become members of the A Team.

The pupils pictured are just some of those from the East Kilbride school who managed an amazing five As at Higher Level and seven As at Nat 5s.

The impressive set of results will help open doors to exciting opportunities in further education, training and employment and continues the school’s proud tradition of academic excellence.

Pupils Ella Smithson, Emma Williams and Sophie Lloyd are among those returning for their sixth year and are hoping to go on to head to university.

Ella said: “I’m delighted with the results and would like to go on and study history and politics at university, with the aim of eventually going into teaching.”

Head Teacher Annette Alexander said: “We are exceptionally proud of all of our young people, their hard work and commitment towards and during the exams.

“As a Rights-Respecting Gold-Accredited School, Pupil Voice and Leadership are central to our practice.

“We have a strong commitment to children’s rights and embedding a rights-respecting ethos across all aspects of school life.

“Our exams results are very positive at all levels, with our 2026 S4 results being the best in recent history and our 2026 S5 results demonstrating the highest attainment in a four-year trend.”

Duncanrig Secondary School pupils who achieved great success in their National 5 exams.

Executive Director of Education Resources, Lyndsay McRoberts, said: “Congratulations to those pupils from Duncanrig who have managed such outstanding results.

“I am sure they will be rightly celebrating, and their families will of course be immensely proud of them.

“I would encourage any learner who has questions about their results or their next steps to speak to their school and make use of the advice and support available through Qualifications Scotland and Skills Development Scotland.

“Whatever their results, we are proud of our young people and wish them every success for the future."

Across South Lanarkshire, more than half of S4 learners achieved five or more National 5 qualifications, and more than 60% of S5 learners achieved one or more Higher qualifications.

Record numbers of young people were also presented for National 5 and Higher qualifications across all schools.
