Essential roadworks to improve the surface of the A721 Carnwath Road, Carluke, will see a section of the road closed for up to four days this month.

The work will begin on Tuesday, 21 July, and will be carried out on the stretch between Stanistone Road and Crawfordwalls Bridge.

A diversion will be in place via: A721, A706, A73, Glamis Avenue, Chapel Street and vice-versa.

Colin Park, the council’s Head of Roads, Transportation and Fleet Services, said: “Unfortunately, it is not feasible allow any vehicles onto this section of Carnwath Road while the resurfacing is being carried out, and we therefore urge all road users to take notice of this closure and think how it might affect their journeys, and then plan ahead and allow extra time for travelling if necessary.

“We apologise for the inconvenience this will cause to people in the area, but their patience and understanding during these four days would be much appreciated. I know everyone who uses Carnwath Road will see a benefit in the improved condition of the surface as a result of the works.”
