New local letting initiative launched
Published: Monday 22 June 2026
Are you thinking about moving to a smaller home?
If you are a South Lanarkshire Council tenant, living in a property with three or more bedrooms and are considering moving to a one or two-bedroom home, we would like to hear from you.
We have recently introduced a local letting initiative which aims to prioritise current council tenants to move to a smaller property which better suits their household’s needs and may be more cost effective and easier to maintain.
In addition to helping tenants to move to a smaller, more suitable property, the initiative will help free up properties in areas where there is a demand for larger sized homes from families on the housing register who need more space.
If you are interested in finding more about the initiative and how we can support you to move to a smaller home, please contact your local housing office.
