Improvements on way for A706
Published: Wednesday 20 May 2026
Repairs are to take place on the A706 between Lanark and Forth from next week.
The carriageway surface improvements begin on Tuesday 26 May and are expected to last for up to three days.
The A706 will be closed between Harelaw roundabout to Silverbirch House.
A diversion will be in place via: A721, A73, A71, A706 and vice-versa.
Head of Roads, Transportation and Fleet Services, Colin Park, said: “We apologise for any inconvenience that may occur during these essential road improvement works.
“We would request that all road users allow additional time for all journeys which involve the use of this section of the A706 during the period indicated and that they plan their journey accordingly.
“I am sure road users will appreciate the much-improved condition of the road when the works are complete and thank them for their patience.”
