Improvement works are to be carried out over five nights on a road in East Kilbride from next week.

The works on Redwood Drive will see the carriageway resurfaced and will be carried out in two phases across five nights from 8pm to 6am.

They will start from Monday 2 March to Saturday 7 March and will result in the closure of Redwood Drive under the A726 GSO between Barbana Road and Redwood Crescent as well as the roundabout junctions.

Phase 1 will see the closure of the roundabout at Redwood Crescent and the section between the roundabouts on Redwood Drive under the A726 GSO. A diversion will be in place via the A726 GSO, A726 Queensway, Eaglesham Road and Redwood Drive.

Phase 2 will result in the closure of the roundabout at Barbana Road. Three different diversion routes will be in place during this phase.

Route one will be for the A726 GSO northbound, with the diversion via the A726 GSO.

Route two will be for Barbana Road and the diversion will be via A726 GSO, A726 Queensway, Peel Road and Braehead Road.

Route three will be for Redwood Drive and Redwood Crescent, and the diversion will be via A726 GSO, A726 Queensway, Eaglesham Road and Redwood Drive.

Head of Roads, Transportation and Fleet Services, Colin Park, said: “We apologise in advance for any inconvenience these works may cause to road users.

“We would request that all road users allow additional time for all journeys which involve the use of Redwood Drive during the times indicated and that they plan their routes accordingly.

“We are sure road users will appreciate the long-term benefits of the improvements when the work has been completed.”

The works have been scheduled to take place during nightshift working to minimise disruption and reduce congestion to all road users.
