Get involved in review of Housing Allocation Policy
Published: Wednesday 1 October 2025
The review of the council’s Housing Allocation Policy is now underway.
It sets out the rules on how council housing in South Lanarkshire is allocated and the circumstances in which applicants are given priority for housing.
We have already been engaging with stakeholders including tenants, other customers and our employees, who are responsible for applying the policy every day, to gather their initial views. This work will continue over the coming weeks and will help to inform the development of the consultative draft policy.
Formal consultation on the revised consultative draft policy will take place during Spring 2026, when a wide range of individuals, groups, other landlords and local and national organisations will be invited to have their say on the policy.
There will be a number of ways to get involved, including an online survey which will be open to everyone. We will promote the consultation on the council’s social media platforms and in the South Lanarkshire View, so look out for this nearer the time and please take the opportunity to tell us what you think about the policy.
In the meantime, if you would like to get more involved in policy reviews or wider housing issues, please email Hannah Beaton, Tenant Participation and Engagement Officer with the South Lanarkshire Development Support Project.
