Essential repairs to take place in Elvanfoot area
Published: Tuesday 21 October 2025
Residents in the Elvanfoot area are being urged to take note of an upcoming road closure in their area to carry out essential repairs.
The A702 Glenochar from its junction with the B7040 Leadhills and Daer Water Road will close from 7am on Monday 27 October for up to 14 days to allow carriageway surfacing work to take place.
No motor vehicles (except those engaged in the work and emergency service vehicles) will be able to park or drive on the road during this time.
The signed diversion route will be as follows: A702, A76, B740, B7078, A702 and vice-versa.
Colin Park, Head of Roads, Transportation, and Fleet Services said: “We are aware of the disruption that this road closure will cause and hope that the long-term benefits will be valued.
“Please avoid the area if possible, and if not, leave extra time for your journey.
“Your patience and understanding during the works would be much appreciated.”
