Beat the Street CamGlen is go
Published: Thursday 18 September 2025
Beat the Street, the free active travel game has launched for the residents of Cambuslang and Rutherglen.
And already – just one day into the start of the six-week event, participants are out and about scoring points to win prizes for walking, running, cycling and scooting.
The popular active travel game got underway yesterday (Wednesday 17 September) and runs until Wednesday 29 October.
As ever, the competition challenges schools, workplaces, community groups and individuals to walk, cycle, run, scoot and wheel as far as possible around their local communities, all whilst leaving the car behind, during the six week-game in return for points and prizes.
Already 4090 people have signed up and have clocked up 1373 miles.
Councillor Robert Brown, South Lanarkshire Council’s Chair of Community and Enterprise Resources, said: “Not even one day into the game and we can already see people of all ages out and about on the streets on Cambuslang and Rutherglen working together to swap the car for travelling on foot, wheels, scooter or bike. There’s six weeks of fun, so please encourage everyone you know to sign up and get involved and let’s see how far we can go as a community!”
