Not only is it unattractive, but it also attracts vermin and can result in anti-social behaviour, such as starting fires.

If you need to dispose of large items or any additional waste, you can Book an uplift, or take it to any of our six Household Waste and Recycling Centres.  Remember, you will need to book the visit in advance by completing the online booking form.

The council takes this matter seriously and will issue a Fixed Penalty Notice to those responsible for not disposing of waste appropriately.

How you can help

Please make sure your bins are stored in an appropriate area and after they have been emptied, ensure they are not left on footpaths or roads. 

If you have been asked to use sacks instead of a wheelie bin, then please do not present your waste at the kerbside any earlier than the day prior to your normal collection day. This will reduce the risk of animals bursting the bags.

There are circumstances where the council may be unable to empty your bin, such as when it is overfull and unsafe for our crews to empty it.  Or if you leave additional waste beside your bin, we will not uplift it.   Therefore, please make sure that additional waste is removed, and the bin lid closes fully.

If the bin is damaged and unsafe for our crews to empty, please request a replacement bin.  Details on how to do this can be found on the council website on the Non-recyclable waste bin page. 

Please note, we will only empty one non-recyclable (black/green) waste bin per property.

Burgundy bins (food and garden waste) now require a £45 permit to enable the disposal of garden waste. 

Food waste will still be collected free of charge.
