Improvements on way for road in Lanark
Published: Monday 12 May 2025

Essential repairs are to take place on a road in Lanark from next week.
The A706 Cleghorn Road will be closed from number 36 to a point 230 metres to the east from Monday 19 May at 7am for up to five days.
No motor vehicles (except those engaged in the work and emergency service vehicles) will be able to park or drive on the road during the resurfacing works.
The signed diversion route will be as follows: A706, A721, A70, A743 and vice-versa.
Head of Roads, Transportation and Fleet Services, Colin Park, said: “We apologise in advance for any inconvenience that this road closure will cause.
“But we are sure local residents will appreciate the long-term benefits following the short-term closure of this stretch of road.
“I would ask all road users to allow extra time for their journey while this work is undertaken.”
