Published: Tuesday 4 March 2025
Hamilton’s Town House was buzzing with energy and electrifying music at the annual Battle of the Bands.
The event brought together 15 talented school bands from across South Lanarkshire for a night to remember.
With more than 600 fans packing the venue, around 90 young rock and pop musicians, some as young as S2, took to the stage and gave the performance of their lives.
The winners were Velvet Note from Carluke High School.
Outstanding Instrumentalist went to Caiden Stirrat (Door Knobs) from Larkhall Academy with the Outstanding Singer Tiana Greenshields (Ultraviolet) from Uddingston Grammar School
A special highlight of the night was the debut of the South Lanarkshire Schools’ Rock Collective, showcasing a united front of musical talent from across the region.
Chair of the council’s Education Resources Committee, Councillor Lynsey Hamilton, said: “Congratulations to everyone taking part in another hugely successful Battle of the Bands event.
“As usual the event was impeccably organised by the council’s Instrumental Music Service and showcased the depth of musical talent at schools right across South Lanarkshire.
“Well done to all the winners, I hope they enjoy their success, and everyone involved goes on to share their love of music with audiences for many years to come.”
