Wish List continues to deliver
Published: Wednesday 11 September 2024
The Community Wish List has supported more than 60 groups and organisations since its launch last year.
The list enables groups and organisations to make requests for specific support to benefit their local community.
South Lanarkshire Council then puts the requests on their website, where they can be selected and fulfilled by suppliers delivering council contracts who have made a commitment to deliver a range of benefits locally.
So far 68 local groups and organisations have had their wishes fulfilled, at a value of more than £53,000.
Chair of the council’s Finance and Corporate Resources Committee, Councillor Lesley McDonald, said: “The Community Wish List has been a huge success, both in terms of the number of organisations looking for help as well as the suppliers who have delivered the wishes.
“The range of support that has been delivered has been amazing – everything from practical stuff like tables and chairs, IT equipment, arts and crafts materials to potentially life-saving items such as defibrillators.
“It is making a fantastic difference to our communities – helping with things like school gardens, litter clean ups and charity events.
“I would like to say a huge thanks to everyone involved.”
More details about the Community Wish List can be found on the council website.
