Hairmyres Park and Ride plans
Published: Thursday 27 June 2024

Plans for a Park and Ride facility at Hairmyres Station in East Kilbride have taken another step forward.
South Lanarkshire Council has agreed to fund a £2million shortfall in the budget for the project, which will then be reimbursed by Transport Scotland.
A letter of comfort from Transport Scotland outlines the agreement.
Executive Director of Community and Enterprise Resources, David Booth, said: “The park and ride is essential in supporting the work being done to enhance Hairmyres Station.
“It will allow the whole town to benefit from the improvements at the station.
“We are committed to supporting sustainable travel and park and rides allow people to make the switch much more easily from car to train for the biggest part of their journeys.”
A tender exercise is now underway and a programme of works, including timescales, will follow subject to a positive tender return.
The full report can be found on the council’s website.
