Views sought on the council’s new local transport strategy
Published: Tuesday 18 July 2023
The council is looking for everyone’s views as it starts to set out its new Local Transport Strategy.
The current strategy was published in 2013 and presented a 10-year vision for transport in the local authority area. But with the current strategy coming to an end this year, the council is now in the process of developing a new strategy that will cover the period 2024-2034.
The new strategy will set the future direction for the council’s approach to the development and upkeep of the transport infrastructure and policy within the area. The strategy will also set out how the council will contribute to the delivery of the obligations set out in the National and Regional Transport Strategies and other key policy drivers.
The final strategy is programmed to be completed and launched in Spring 2024.
Councillor Robert Brown, the chair of the council’s Community and Enterprise Resources Committee, said: “This is an important opportunity for the local community to be involved in shaping the future of transport investment and policy in South Lanarkshire.
“So, I hope everyone will take the time to read the information on the website and complete the online survey.”
More information and a link to the survey is available on the Local Transport Strategy 2024-2034 webpage. The survey must be completed before Friday 1 September 2023.
