Volunteers recognised at Provost Community Awards
Published: Monday 22 May 2023

More than 30 residents across South Lanarkshire have been recognised for outstanding achievements in their communities.
Provost Margaret Cooper presented recipients with a rose bowl and certificate at a ceremony at South Lanarkshire Council’s HQ in Hamilton.
Nominations were made by councillors and include people who work with local community groups, community councils, charity organisations, sports teams or have helped the environment.
There is no restriction on nominations, other than the person must have made a significant contribution to community life.
Provost Cooper said: “It was wonderful to see so many people from all walks of life and hear about the tremendous contribution they make to their local communities.
“The awards are a recognition of this work and to allow us to show how much we appreciate the people who give up their own time to help others.
“Much of what they do may go unnoticed, but the awards allow us to shine a light on the valuable work they do in their communities, either for groups, individuals or organisations.
“A huge congratulations to them all, and on behalf of everyone in South Lanarkshire, thank you so much for everything you do for your local communities.”
