New housing director appointed

A new member of the council’s senior management team has been appointed after a rigorous recruitment process.
Following competitive interviews, Stephen Gibson has been appointed as Executive Director (Housing and Technical Resources). Stephen has a long career in local authority and social housing, most recently at as Divisional Director of Planning, Housing, Building Standards and Transport Strategy at Glasgow City Council.
Council Leader Joe Fagan said: “This is a key leadership role as we pursue the council’s ambitions to keep delivering, and improve, our services on behalf of local residents. Stephen was the unanimous choice of the recruitment panel and I am delighted to welcome him to the council.”
South Lanarkshire Council Chief Executive Cleland Sneddon said: “Stephen had shown a clear dedication to improving housing standards throughout his career. We look forward to him joining what is already a successful team and helping us aspire to ever higher standards.”
Stephen added: “I am really looking forward to joining South Lanarkshire, which has a reputation as a leading local authority, not just in social housing, but in many other sectors.”
