Scottish Water will be doing essential work under Mavor Avenue to improve the local sewer network and protect against flooding.

A section of sewer approximately 6m long close to the cemetery has collapsed and requires to be replaced.

To carry this out Scottish Water will need to close Mavor Avenue at its junction with the roundabout on the B783 East Mains Road from Monday 18 July 2022 for approximately eight weeks.

So that Scottish Water’s contractor George Leslie Ltd can work safely, three-way temporary traffic lights will be installed - on either side of the roundabout on East Mains Road and at its junction with Old Coach Road.

Traffic will be diverted via B783 East Mains Road, A749 Kingsway, Law Place and Mavor Avenue.

Traffic management arrangements will see the temporary lights manually controlled between 7am and 7pm to keep traffic flowing. The situation will be kept under constant review outside of these times and remedial action taken if required.

Scottish Water appreciates there is likely to be disruption for local residents and businesses and will do all that can be done to communicate with everyone who may be affected, particularly local schools as they return from the summer holidays.

Georgina Reid, Scottish Water’s corporate affairs manager in the west said: “As always, we will do all that we can to complete these essential works as quickly and safely as possible and will work with the community to keep disruption to a minimum.

“We would like to thank road users in advance for their patience and understanding.”
