Your vote counts - so please use it

Voting is now underway for the Scottish Local Government elections.
And voters across South Lanarkshire are being encouraged to use their vote, with polling stations open until 10pm tonight.
The votes will be counted on Friday and 64 councillors will be elected to represent South Lanarkshire Council.
Returning Officer Cleland Sneddon said: “My message to everyone is simple – please, use your vote.
“You should vote by numbering the candidates in the order of your choice using 1, 2, 3 and so on.
“Don’t worry if you’re a first-time voter and not sure what to do. Poll staff are there to help you.
“Lots more information is available on our website.”
When you arrive to vote you will be asked your name and address so staff can check against the register that you're eligible to vote.
You don’t need to have your poll card with you to vote but it does make it easier for staff if you do. You can take your poll card back if you want it. If not, it will be confidentially shredded later.
Keep an eye on South Lanarkshire Council’s Facebook and Twitter accounts for more information and updates throughout today.
