The A726 Strathaven Road at Torrance Roundabout will be closed from this weekend for up to nine days.

The closure will be between the entrance to Carrigan's Eating House and 100m south of Torrance roundabout.

The closure will come into effect from midnight on Friday 26 until Sunday 5 December as part of the larger Road City Deal improvements.

We have been liaising with bus operators, some nearby residents as well as local businesses who are directly affected by the closure.

It has been agreed that bus services will remain in place with passage through the works at agreed times and access to the properties of the Torrance estate will be maintained.

Access to Calderglen Country Park and Carrigan's restaurant will be maintained from the north side due to the nature of the works.

Letters have been posted out to nearby residents and businesses providing information about the closure as well as the diversion routes.

To ensure as many regular users of the route are notified of the closure, there is advanced signing at the roundabout and information placed in the local newspaper as well as on the council’s website and social media platforms.

Councillor John Anderson, the chair of the council’s Community and Enterprise Committee, said: “We appreciate the disruption that this closure will cause and will endeavour to minimise the duration of the works as much as possible.

“Drivers should follow the diversions which will be clearly signed and plan extra time for their journey.”

The diversion route will be via A726 Strathaven Road, A725 East Kilbride Kingsway/Expressway, Main Street, High Blantyre Road, A724/A72 to Hamilton, A723 to Strathaven, A726 to East Kilbride and vice versa.
