Strathaven roadworks begin tomorrow
Published: Friday 8 October 2021
Major resurfacing works are to take place on a road in Strathaven from tomorrow.
The work will be completed in two phases, with the A723 Strathaven to Hamilton Road closed between Commercial Road and Aspen Way from Saturday, 9 October until Monday, 11 October.
The A723 Hamilton Road will then be closed between Aspen Way and Whiteshawgate Highway from Tuesday, 12 October to Friday, 15 October.
Head of Roads and Transportation Services, Colin Park, said: “We apologise in advance for any delays these essential works might cause.
“We have planned them to take place during the October school holiday week when we expect traffic to be much quieter.
“We would ask road users to avoid the area if possible, and if not, to take note of the diversion route and to expect delays.”
Traffic will be diverted via the A723 to Hamilton, A72 to Cornsilloch Brae, A71 to Strathaven and vice versa.
Please note that access to Strathaven Recycling Centre will also be restricted while the work is taking place.
During phase one (Saturday, 9 October to Monday, 11 October), access to the Recycling Centre will only be available via the Hamilton end of the A723 Hamilton Road.
During phase two (Tuesday, 12 October to Friday, 15 October), the road will be closed between Aspen Way and Whiteshawgate Highway. Controlled access to and from the Recycling Centre will be managed by traffic marshalls, however, there may be some delays for motorists while this happens.
