Reporting Repairs - know your rights
Published: Tuesday 4 October 2022
Do you know, by law, councils must carry out certain house repairs within a specific timescale?
The Right to Repair is a scheme for tenants that makes sure that certain small urgent repairs (called qualifying repairs), which might affect your health and safety
or security are done quickly and easily.
By law we have to carry out these repairs within a certain time. If we don’t your Right to Repair may apply.
When you report one of these types of repairs, we’ll explain your rights under Right to Repair.
We also have an alternative contractor you can ask to carry out the repair if we fail to attend within the timescale. In such instances, we may also pay compensation to you.
For more information on the Right to Repair scheme please contact our Repairs Centre on 0303 123 1010 or email the housing repair team.
To request a leaflet on the Right to Repair contact your local housing office.
You can also view and download the leaflet from the Scottish Government website, go to www.gov.scot and search for ‘Right to Repair’.
