Repairs at Garrion Bridge completed ahead of schedule
Published: Friday 3 February 2023
Work to repair damage at Garrion Bridge has been completed much quicker than planned.
The sections of road that were closed to complete the work have now reopened.
Sandstone blocks which had fallen into the River Clyde were able to be retrieved and reused, which enabled both damaged sections of the bridge to be repaired at the same time, which was a change to the methods originally planned.
Chair of the council’s Community and Enterprise Resources Committee, Councillor Robert Brown, said: “It’s great news that these works have now been completed, more than two weeks ahead of schedule.
“I would like to thank our roads team and the contractor for such a swift resolution, enabling this well-used route to reopen.
“I would also like to thank road users for their patience during the works.”
The bridge was damaged following two separate accidents which meant two repairs were needed.
